YTube Vid of The Week: Little Girl From Missy Elliott Videos Makes A Tribute

It was a shock to see Missy Elliott resurface during this year’s Super Bowl with Katy Perry. That was really something unexpected. I believe we should have more pop cultural surprises like it in the future. As I’ve kept up with the news about this neat act of wonder, we can all agree that there was someone missing from performance that we’d sure to see in any of Missy Elliott’s performances.

Where’s the little girl who dances in all her music videos?

Well, that little girl’s name is Alyson Stoner, and she was handling some business of her own, which is why she missed out on the performance. Stoner is pursuing her very own music career. Who knew?

I’ve always known Stoner for her many Disney appearances in films like Cheaper By The Dozen, and as Mike’s little sister Sally in Disney Channel Original Mini Series Mike Super Short Show. So it’s funny and kind of weird to see the hip-hop community discrediting and simply labeling her for her part in being that awesome dancing kid from Missy’s music videos.

Come on, guys! She’s so much more than that.

Here’s a list of Things I’ve known her to deserve credit for:

  • Cheaper By the Dozen (1 and 2)
  • Isabella from Phinese and Ferb
  • Sally from Mike’s Super Short Show
  • Wendy from Drake and Josh
  • Barbara Gordon from Young Justice
  • Connie from The Batman
  • Caitlyn from Camp Rock
  • Camille from Step Up (1, 3. and 4)
  • Kairi from Kingdom Hearts video game series
  • Background Dancer for Eminem, Outkast and Will Smith

She’s definitely more than just that dancing little girl. No wonder she missed the performance. Haha.

To make up for her absence, Stoner released a tribute video for the well-respected Missy Elliott via YouTube and that is why it’s Doc’s Castle Media’s YTube Vid of the Week.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEOo311_yts]

She also has a music video out of her own. Check out her official music video for “Dragon.”

YTube Vid of The Week: PRINCESS RAP BATTLE- SNOW WHITE VS. ELSA Whitney

Hip-hop is indeed a culture that captivates every soul at least once in a lifetime. But man, can it get to be so damn corny.

This week’s YTube Vid of the Week comes from a random stumble upon while scrolling my Facebook timeline, and not browsing YouTube as I normally do. I was reading an article about Disney princesses on Buzzfeed (don’t ask haha) when I suddenly see a headline that caught my eye regarding two generations of Disney goddesses battle rap for the win. What win? I don’t know. See the ridiculous video below.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcrQvoCzs80]

The Internet is interesting isn’t it? Can you believe there are more princess rap battles on YouTube? All I can say is the mind is amazing because I never know what motivates people to make some videos. Haha.

Who do you think won this battle? Obviously, it was Elsa, but leave your comments below.

YTube Vid of the Week: Why You Should Read The Alchemist by Bmore’s Hip-Hop Artist Gillateen

Now, as an advocate of my personal reading movement with my little bookshelf in the comfort of my home, I would recommend some good self-help books to a few of you. But I’ve been slacking on my reading, and have taken a stab at listening to other people’s suggestions about books that they feel are awesome reads.

This week’s YTube Vid of the Week is a dedication to all those people who seek purpose in their life. It’s for all the folks who inspire to achieve something but need that little pick me up of encouragement to do what has to be done for reaching where they want to be. Looking at Gillateen’s growing success tells me the book works magic, so I’m going to get me a copy of the book, too.

How did Gillateen do with his book review? Did he convince you to read The Alchemist? Leave your comments below.

YTube Vid of the Week: If Black People Said The Stuff White People Say

Sometimes I wonder do people actually think before speaking. Someone can tell if you didn’t. This week’s YTube Vid of the Week is a comedy of Black people saying things that white people may say to Blacks that just seems plain retarded questions to ask. There may not be such a thing as a dumb question, but there is such a thing as questionable questions. In this video there is a plethora of those.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1zLzWtULig]

What can you do when someone asks you something like the questions in this video but ask another question back? Some of these things mentioned will make you turn your head in curiosity because you’ll wonder Do white people really ask questions like this. Uhh, yeah. I personally get rhetorical questions about my hair.

Why do you think we never say anything about these crazy, and my opinion sometimes ignorant, questions? Do you think it’s because we don’t want to be labeled as an “unruly black person?” Leave your comments below.

YTube Vid of the Week: Kids React To Game Boy

Kids say the darndest things! Remember that show hosted by Bill Cosby? When I was watching it, it was coming on Nick at Night after Rugrats aired. After I watched this week’s YTube Vid of the Week, I immediately thought about the kids who were guests on Kids Say The Darndest Things.

It’s funny talking to someone who’s so young. They’re so oblivious to what happened in this world before them. The kids in this video were so shocked to have learned about the functions of one of the first portable game consoles. I just loved hearing the things they said about something I use to play to pass time by as a child. Some loved it and others got bored with it quick. While I was cleaning my room the other day, I found my old Game Boy and started playing it. The kids were right. It is boring to play now. We need complex games and easy access. I guess that’s why we cling to our phones like crazy.

TheFineBros have lots of videos on their YouTube channel of people reacting to all kinds of things. I recently looked at Teens React To 90s Internet and said to myself, “I remember when the Internet became popular.” I felt so old after I said that. I can only imagine when I have kids the things they’ll say about the technology that I grew up using. I’ll be viewed as a dinosaur!

What’s a technology you’ve reacted weird to that you’re parents may have used in the past? Leave comments below.

Have you watched Beauty and the Beat? Watch last week’s Ytube Vid of the Week on Doc’s Castle Media.

YTube Vid of the Week: Beauty and the Beat

I watch cartoons faithfully, as if I’m still 8 years old. I recently watched The Little Mermaid and song along with it like it just came out in theaters. I’m such a kid on the inside. But what’s up with these memes and videos that I come across on Facebook and Instagram that constantly tries to ruin my childhood memories by tainting them with adult messages.

Like this one:

images

Haha! They’re wild! I can’t help but laugh.

When I came across Beauty and the Beat, I died from laughter! It’s a parody of the song “Belle” from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, recreated to follow Belle’s day to day activities in a new perspective. IsBelle’s living in the hood!?

Boojie Belle has the attention of all the hood; hoodrats and thugs watch her go about her day. She’s the talk of the neighborhood.

It’s amazing how growing up can change your outlook on something so innocent. I can’t even imagine what the producer of this video was thinking. What’s really funny about this short is it plays off the stereotypes of blacks. So some of the things that happen in this video is funny because I picture a group of black people talking about a white girl coming into a majority black environment, similar to a previous YTube Vid of the Week: Mean Gurlz, which was also created by Todrick Hall.

I’m experiencing what happens to people when they get older and have kids themselves. Majority of adults no longer watch at cartoons that were created by people who were older than us as a child. (I’m talking about those 1980s and 90s babies aren’t looking at new cartoons.) So we’re watching what we’re familiar of. Now we’re finding that the adults creators of our childhood cartoons left subliminal messages to be unraveled. If there weren’t any subliminal messages previously in our kiddy shows, we create them anyway for laughs for my generation’s age of ignorance. Poof! There goes our memes.

While my generation does this, I can fathom what my children’s generation will be or how their kids will utilize new media. But my generations love making jokes of my childhood innocence.

What’s the most funniest meme you’ve come across in the past 2 years? Leave your comments below.

YTube Vid of the Week: Footprints of a Mother by Solution

Finally! I have a new YTube Vid of the Week! It’s been a minute.

This week’s video was done by local hip-hop artist Solution. He’s come with some good ole spoken word.

Hip-hop artist Solution, reappears from his music hiatus with the release of his new spoken word “Footprints of a Mother.” This new release is a dedication to all mothers who have left lasting impressions on the lives of their children. Solution is currently working on a separate project expected to release later this year.

He’sssss Baaaacccckkkk! (Check out more on his YouTube Channel.)

Honestly, this video should have been posted on Doc’s Castle Media around Mother’s Day. But would it have caught your attention today if I posted this video around the time that everyone published something about their mother? Uhh, no! SO…I had to be different, of course, and post a month and some days afterwards. Ha-ha. Are you still thinking about mom? You should be.

Never forget about mom! Do you love your mom? Comment with something nice you’d like to say to your mom in the comments below.

YTube Vid of the Week: Morning Hacks to Start Your Day

“The early bird catches the worm” may be one of my most favorite phrases to say. I wake up saying the quote each morning to keep me motivated in completing my daily tasks. Sometimes I may slip up but what brings me back to tackling my duties is that quote, which is my daily Tweet on Twitter that many of my followers Retweet as motivation for themselves. I like helping keep others stay motivated, and as they’re motivated by that morning quote, they’re bing backs become my Popeye’s spinach.

BuzzFeed presents a youtube video which gives people a plethora of other motivating hacks to starting their day the productive and right way. If you’re caught doing these things, you might just be a morning person.

Do you do any of these hacks as your kick start your morning routine? Leave your comments below.

YTube Vid of the Week: The Single Life- The Science Of Love

I’ve been thinking lately how I live in a generation full of people who’ll choose to stay single before taking the risks of being in a relationship. I don’t understand why that happens. I don’t understand why people put themselves into “situationships” instead of taking a chance with dating or moving on into the next step after dating. I have this belief that people are afraid of progression because their worried about what others think of them. That’s not cool.

20140311-101302.jpg

I found this video that made me feel so liberated though I’m not seeking this type of liberation. I mean, I’m single because of some of the same reasons the cast in this video are single. But I can’t say I don’t take risks. I’ve been in enough relationships. I just need a break. Ha-ha!

SoulPancake is this cool channel that does mini experimentations explaining reasons for people to live a better live. I’m assuming to make your soul feel good. Maybe some people of this generations should check this video out and take a risk today. You’ll feel better.

Do you agree with this video? Would you say this could help your current situationship? Leave your comments below.

YTube Vid of the Week: How To Pick A Side Chick

The ultimate problem in people’s relationships seem to be the presence of another person smacked right in the middle, or should I say side? For so many people to be grown, there are multiple people who cheat. Is that a grown person activity nowadays? I can look at my Twitter time line and pick at least 5 tweets in the last hour about someone speaking about how to treat a “wifey,” or the definition of what “thot” may be. But what takes the cake is the presence of side chick memes down my Twitter feed.

Side chick lifestyles are being glorified and this has been going on since 2011-2012. Does that come as a surprise to anyone? There’s no secret to these women, or men, tactics! I can literally learn how to become a side chick if I turned on the TV. Even on one of America’s favorite shows, there’s a side chick who is glorified for her adulteress lifestyle (Keri Washington on Scandal).

I don’t condone cheating. It’s bad but it happens in this society. That’s why I chose to use this video as YTube Vid of the Week. Chynadoll21388 explains the rules so well. If a person was to never get caught, they’d follow these rules without any hesitation. Watch the video below.
